The planning board functions in an advisory role, except when a local law is passed granting them authority to approve site plans, sub division plans, special permits or other developmental approvals. The Village of Bloomfield Planning Board has been granted this authority. This is a 5 member board plus alternate, all appointed by the Mayor.
